Kent : Bikes : Target The one-millionth bicycle manufactured by Huffman Manufacturing rolled off the assembly line on May thirteen, 1947. Employment went from 385 to between 800 and 1,000 employees within a year. Huffman Manufacturing was one of only two firms that were allowed to continue producing bicycles during World War II. Half of the bicycles utilized by the armed forces had been made by Huffman. In 1922, greater than 600,000 bicycles were offered within the United States, and the industry was booming.
